EcoWeave Zambia
"Weaving the future one pineapple at a time"
The Project.
Fashion meets ecology in our groundbreaking initiative, using agricultural waste –pineapple leaves– to create eco-friendly textiles. Partnering with local farmers, we transform what was once seen as waste into sustainable and ethical fibers for the fashion industry.
EWZ is more than just fabric creation. It weaves the bonds of a stronger, resilient community. By providing training and employment opportunities, we empower local artisans to develop new skills and actively contribute to a thriving circular economy. Join us in this journey where fashion, sustainability, and community intertwine for a better future.
How Does It Work ?
Farming Impact
We start by harvesting the fruit and collecting the pineapple leaves. This is a key part of our project where we're building a collective of pineapple farmers. This approach is effective in creating new jobs and sources of income, significantly supporting the local community.
Fiber Transformation
As part of our process we collect the leaves, a valuable harvest waste. We then carefully scrape and extract the fibers, either manually or with machines. The step after is processing these fibers by boiling and drying, transforming them into a unique textile. It's a journey from waste to wonder.
Eco-Social Impact
Spinning the fiber into yarn leads us to weave it into a textile, which can be a blend with other fibers or entirely from pineapple. This initiative complements Zambia's existing textile knowledge and production, resulting in the creation of a new textile for local use and export
Mwinilunga district, Zambia
In Zambia's Mwinilunga district, known for its lush greenery and agricultural richness, our pineapple textile project is making waves. Here, we're combining the area's natural resources with innovative practices to create sustainable textiles. This project is more than just fabric production; it's about empowering the local community. We're offering new job opportunities and skill development, fostering economic growth, and promoting environmental care. Mwinilunga is quickly becoming a model for sustainable industry, proving that environmental responsibility and economic development can go hand in hand

Towards a Future with No Waste
Under the umbrella of BNOP agriculture services, with 20 years of proven expertise in agriculture projects across Africa, we will be closing a circle from seed to fiber.
With 20 years of experience in agriculture projects, one of the issues we noticed is the amount of waste created in the process. In the new era of sustainability, both ecologically and socially, one of the UN goals is to create a ”zero waste” circular economy, and agriculture, mainly food security, are in the spotlight.
About Us
We are a mother-daughter team coming from the worlds of agriculture and fashion. Ela, creating agricultural projects in Africa for 20 years, and Bar a fashion designer based in Paris living in the heart of the fashion industry. Together we join both worlds, to make a connection and build a bridge working towards a better and more responsible future.

Our project aims to revolutionize textile production by exploring the potential of pineapple fibers as a sustainable alternative. Through repurposing agricultural waste, we not only contribute to a more eco-friendly industry but also uplift our local community by creating jobs and fostering skill development.
